IETF Proposes AI URI Standard: Creating Dedicated Access Channels for AI Resources

The IETF’s latest internet draft introduces an experimental Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) scheme named ‘ai’. This technical specification aims to create dedicated access points for artificial intelligence resources, enabling autonomous systems and robots to achieve native web connectivity while allowing human-facing applications to interoperate through HTTPS gateways. The draft is set to expire on April 5, 2026, and is currently in the working document phase.
