Parked Domains Become Malware Hotspots, 90% of Visits Redirected

According to the latest research from cybersecurity firm Infoblox, directly navigating to parked domains (such as expired or misspelled websites) now carries extremely high risk. The research shows that over 90% of parked domains redirect users to illegal content, scam sites, malware, or fake security software subscription services. Attackers exploit domain parking platforms, using chained redirects and user profiling (including IP geolocation, device fingerprinting, and cookies) to customize malicious content. For example, visiting a misspelled domain like gmai[.]com could lead to email interception for commercial email attacks. Google AdSense’s 2025 policy changes may have unintentionally increased these risks. This trend poses a serious threat to internet users, highlighting the importance of cybersecurity protection.
